It’s now the business end at the WAFCON finals in Morocco and the battle for a place in the final couldn’t be more exciting as the two semi-finals pits old foes who have scores to settle.
The matches are on tonight.
Reigning champions South Africa will lock horns with the nine times WAFCON winner Nigeria. Banyana Banyana defeated Mali to secure the semi-final spot while the Super Falcon Eagles defeated the Copper Queens, Zambia.
The South Africa-Nigeria fixture is the most anticipated match, with both nations highly competitive and the continent will be eager to see, the quality of football and tactical brilliance of these two.
Hosts Morocco, the Atlas Lioness will battle against Ghana, who are looking to return to the continental table of champions. Ghana last played the WAFCON semi finals in 2016 while Morocco appeared in the last tournament where they were the runner ups.
No doubt , the Zambia-Nigeria quarterfinal match was hyped as the final before final, but the Nigeria – South Africa match is being fueled by past and present events on the continent. Nigeria’s Super Falcons are record champions while South Africa’s Banyana Banyana are the defending champions.
