Bulawayo — Budget airline Fastjet Zimbabwe is set to launch direct flights between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls next month, a development expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and give a welcome lift to the domestic tourism sector.
Starting August 8, the airline will operate four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using its 50-seater Embraer regional jets. The flights will depart Bulawayo at 1:25 PM and arrive in Victoria Falls at 2:20 PM, with the return leg leaving at 2:50 PM and landing in Bulawayo at 3:45 PM.
Fastjet announced in a statement.
The launch comes at a critical time, as major roadworks are underway on the deteriorating Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway a key route for domestic travelers. The air service offers a timely and more convenient alternative for both business and leisure passengers.
The new route expands Fastjet’s domestic network, which already connects Harare, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls, and complements its international services to South Africa and Zambia.
Since launching operations in Zimbabwe in 2015, Fastjet has positioned itself as a key player in regional air travel. The airline recently attained the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, a globally recognized benchmark for aviation safety and operational excellence.
With tourism recovering and demand for domestic travel rising, the new Bulawayo–Victoria Falls route is expected to play a pivotal role in linking Zimbabwe’s economic and leisure hubs more efficiently than ever before.
