FORMER Beitbridge and Gwanda district administrator Kilibone Mbedzi has been appointed the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Beitbridge Rural District Council.

Presently she had been employed by Raubex PVT (Ltd), contracted to upgrade the Beitbridge Border Post.

The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works officially confirmed the appointment of Mbedzi as CEO for Beitbridge Rural District Council in a letter to stakeholders including the Beitbridge District Development Coordinator.

The circular signed by the acting secretary for local government Albert Magumise said the decision was made in accordance with Section 66(1) of the Rural District Council Act (Chapter 29:13).
Her appointment is effective immediately.

“Please be advised that the Minister of Local Government and Public Works has in terms of Section 66(1) of the Rural District Councils Act [Chapter 29:13], approved the appointment of Ms Kilibone Mbedzi as the substantive Chief Executive Officer for Beitbridge Rural District Council with immediate effect. In the event that she declines the offer, the Council should re-advertise the post.

It is envisaged that the appointment of Ms K. Mbedzi will enhance the service delivery mandate of Council ,” read part of the circular dispatched in Beitbridge to Councillor Oscar Chiromo, DDC Sikhangezile Mafu Moyo and acting CEO Peter Ncube.

Mbedzi takes over from Peter Moyo who left the local authority on retirement this year and brings with her a wealth of experience in administration and human resources management.
