The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has issued a warning to the public regarding a surge in fraudulent activities targeting individuals and businesses through fake grant and loan offers circulating on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, and via email.

In a press release, the Ministry expressed deep concern over the ongoing scams where fraudsters impersonate officials, enticing victims with promises of financial assistance that ultimately lead to significant financial losses.

These scammers are reportedly luring unsuspecting individuals into applying for loans, only for them to lose their hard-earned money during the application process.

The Ministry clarified that it is not currently offering any loans or grants, urging the public to disregard any such communications.

“Fake loans, grants, adverts, and offer letters impersonating the Ministry are in circulation. We advise all stakeholders and citizens to ignore these fraudulent offers and to remain vigilant,” read the statement.

Authorities have been alerted and are implementing measures to combat fraudulent activities, while the Ministry encourages anyone who receives such offers to report them to the relevant authorities to help curb these scams.

Citizens are urged to stay cautious and report any suspicious messages they may encounter.
