Zimbabwe has officially adopted a partnership with Bitumen World (Pvt) Ltd for the rehabilitation of the Beitbridge Bulawayo Victoria Falls Road a significant move to enhance transportation infrastructure in Zimbabwe.

This decision was announced during the thirty-first post-cabinet press briefing by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Honourable Felix T. Mhona.

Under a Design, Build, Operate, and Transfer (DBOT) contract, this initiative is expected to significantly improve the movement of transit traffic along one of the most crucial routes in the North-South Corridor, linking Zimbabwe with neighboring countries such as South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, and Namibia.

Minister Mhona emphasizsd that the rehabilitation of this vital road will not only facilitate smoother transit but also bolster economic activities by enhancing connectivity.

The government has also finalized financial arrangements for the rehabilitation of additional roads, including the Kwekwe-Nkayi-Lupane Road, Bulawayo-Nkayi Road, and Karoi-Binga-Cross Dete Road, with work set to commence immediately.

This partnership comes at a time when the government is under pressure to deliver on infrastructure promises, particularly regarding the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway, which has faced criticism for its poor condition. The commitment to these projects reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to improve road safety and accessibility across the nation.

As the rehabilitation projects roll out, stakeholders are optimistic that these developments will lead to enhanced trade and tourism opportunities, further integrating Zimbabwe into the regional economy through an improved road network.
