Suicide cases have been on the rise in the country and the latest victim is Caude Jele, a Zimbabwe Republic Police officer previously stationed in Gweru.
The police officer cited economic hardships for the decision to take his own life.
Before his death, Jele left a letter detailing his struggles.
In his note, he expressed feelings of despair, stating, “Having survived all these 38 years, I have reached a point where I feel like it’s all the same being on this earth or leaving.”
He emphasized that his decision to end his life was personal, urging those left behind not to blame anyone.
“I know this will hurt you, but I no longer see a reason to live; I have failed,” he wrote
The tragic event underscores the grim realities faced by many, reflecting the severe economic challenges and personal struggles that persist in the country.
