Harare, Zimbabwe – The Ministry of Transport has announced that the long-awaited transformation of the iconic Harare-Beitbridge Highway is now in full swing. Construction is underway on the critical 16km Ngundu Section, marking a major step in the dualization of the highway.
“We’re building a safer, faster, and modern highway for Zimbabwe’s future. Stay tuned for more updates as we work to transform Zimbabwe’s infrastructure,” the Ministry shared on their official X account.
This announcement comes months after the road rehabilitation project had been put on hold, leaving motorists and transporters eagerly awaiting progress.
The restart of works signals renewed commitment to improving one of the nation’s most vital transport corridors, which links the capital city Harare to the Beitbridge border post.
The dualization project is expected to enhance road safety, reduce travel times, and support economic growth by facilitating smoother transportation of goods and people across the country.
As construction ramps up, the Ministry has promised regular updates, keeping the public informed on milestones and progress.
