U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the arrest of a Zimbabwean national convicted of intoxicated manslaughter in Dallas County, Texas.

According to ICE, Lloyd Tinashe Hwehwe was taken into custody by officers from the agency’s Houston field office on August 19. He had previously been convicted of intoxicated manslaughter, a second-degree felony in Texas, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

“ICE Houston arrested Lloyd Tinashe Hwehwe, a criminal alien from Zimbabwe, on Aug. 19. He’s convicted of intoxicated manslaughter in Dallas County, Texas, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison,” the agency said in a statement on its official X account.

The offense of intoxicated manslaughter carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000 under Texas law.

ICE said Hwehwe’s arrest is part of its Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) initiative, which targets noncitizens with criminal convictions who are deemed threats to public safety. He is now in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.

ICE officials emphasized that their enforcement priorities remain focused on individuals with criminal records.
