Harare, Zimbabwe – Socialite and Zimdancehall  musician Malloti is facing intense public criticism after a video circulating online appears to show her drinking BronCleer syrup, commonly known as “Bronco,” during the launch of her new podcast.

In the viral clip, Malloti is seen introducing her podcast in a profanity-laced segment before taking a sip from a bottle that many believe contained Bronco, a cough syrup frequently misused as a recreational drug in Zimbabwe.

The contents of the bottle, however, have not been officially confirmed.

One of her most vocal critics, social media personality C.H. Mukungunugwa known for his connections to businessman Wicknell Chivayo slammed Malloti’s actions.

He emphasized the dangers of glamorizing drug abuse, especially amid Zimbabwe’s ongoing battle with widespread substance misuse.

“This foul-mouthed goon must be arrested for flaunting drug use on camera! Entertainment should never cross the line into illegal and destructive behaviour. Drug abuse is NOT content; it’s a scourge destroying our youth’s future. How dare anyone promote this poison when even the President is leading the charge against it?” Mukungunugwa said.

Many members of the public and social media users have expressed outrage, calling for accountability and warning against the normalization of drug use in entertainment spaces.

Some comments from the public include:

“If the contents of that bottle are confirmed, Malloti should face legal consequences.”

“Our youth are already struggling with drug abuse. Promoting such behaviour only makes things worse.”

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. As the controversy grows, many are calling for stricter enforcement of laws against drug promotion and abuse in the entertainment industry.
