A 19-year-old man has been arrested in Harare after allegedly attempting to sell a human foetus, claiming it was beef.
The suspect, identified as Stelly Marecha, is currently in police custody following his arrest at the corner of Mbuya Nehanda and Albion Streets in the city’s Central Business District.
According to a police statement, Marecha discovered the foetus wrapped in a black plastic bag discarded in a bin at the busy intersection.
He reportedly approached a 27-year-old man, offering the remains for sale and claiming it was meat. The bizarre nature of the incident prompted immediate police action and Marecha’s swift arrest.
Authorities are now appealing for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible for disposing of the foetus.
The police have emphasized their commitment to investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery and ensuring justice is served in this unusual case.
