A 41-year-old man from Beitbridge, Doubt Sibanda, appeared in court today after he allegedly assaulted his wife following a disagreement about school fees.

Sibanda, who lives at House Number 1094 in the Medium Density suburb, stood before Magistrate Mponisi Kaweni at the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court.

His wife, Ester Madhimbe, told the court that the incident happened on October 2, 2025 around 6pm.

She said Sibanda came home drunk when their child, Ezra Madhimbe (Grade 1), asked when his fees would be paid.

“My husband got angry and accused me of influencing the child to ask him. He started beating me. I got hurt on the neck and had a bad headache,” said Ester.

“I went to the hospital for treatment and called the police, who came and arrested him.”

Sibanda pleaded guilty, saying, “I was drunk that day. I only found out at the police station that I had assaulted my wife.”

The magistrate postponed the case to 7 October 2025 for judgment.
