THE Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South Province, Albert Nguluvhe, has called on businesses, organisations and members of the public to attend a fundraising dinner aimed at supporting the province’s Zimbabwe National Youth and Paralympic Games team ahead of this year’s national competition.

In an invitation issued on 8 July 2026, Nguluvhe said the fundraising event is intended to mobilise resources for athletes who will represent Matabeleland South at the Zimbabwe National Youth and Paralympic Games scheduled to take place in Marondera, Mashonaland East Province, from 13 to 26 August 2026.

Matabeleland South enters the competition as the defending champions and is seeking support to ensure the team is adequately prepared to defend its title.

Funds raised during the dinner will go towards transport, accommodation, sports equipment, feeding, tracksuits, affiliations and sports kits for the athletes and para-athletes.

The fundraising dinner will be held on 17 July 2026 at Collen Bawn PPC Club, starting at 1700 hours.

Organisers have encouraged individuals, businesses and stakeholders to contribute through ticket purchases and attendance.

Contributions have been set at US$250 for a table of 10 people, US$50 for a double ticket, and US$30 for a single ticket.

Nguluvhe said community support would play a crucial role in empowering young athletes and para-athletes to represent the province with pride, determination and excellence.

He urged the business community and residents of Matabeleland South to partner with the provincial team by attending the event and contributing towards the athletes’ preparations.

“ Your attendance and generous contribution will make a meaningful difference in empowering our young athletes and para-athletes to represent Matabeleland South with pride, determination and excellence. I sincerely invite you to partner with us in supporting our defending champions as they strive for another successful campaign.
We look forward to your esteemed presence at this important occasion” read part of the letter.
