Dzikamai Mavhaire, a former Cabinet Minister, has officially rejoined the ruling ZANU PF Party after a decade-long absence.
Mavhaire, who was expelled from ZANU PF in 2013, made headlines this morning as he led a group of opposition supporters back to the party during a welcoming ceremony at State House, presided over by His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa has welcomed back opposition supporters who have defected to the ruling ZANU PF Party, at State House this morning. The returnees are being led by former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim National Executive Committee member, Dzikamai Mavhaire.” ZANUPF Spokesperson, Nick Mangwana wrote on his X account.
Before his departure from ZANU PF, Mavhaire held notable positions within the party, including serving as a Cabinet Minister.
However in 2013 he was expelled from the party reportedly due to internal party conflicts and political disagreements.
Following his exit, Mavhaire joined the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), where he became an interim member of the National Executive Committee.
Mavhaire’s return to ZANU PF comes at a time when the party is actively seeking to consolidate its support base by welcoming back former members and opposition supporters.
