A 21-year-old man from Chiungwani village in Mberengwa has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl.
Circumstances are that the accused held the victim by her hand, ordered her to undress, and committed the crime before fleeing.
He was convicted and sentenced by Mberengwa Magistrate Court
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), reports that the complainant 17 year old was home alone in the kitchen when the accused person arrived.
He asked for some water to drink and she gave him. The accused person held the complainant’s hand and ordered her to remove her clothes and she complied.
The accused person undressed himself before raping the complainant once and fled from the scene.
The complainant disclosed the offence to her mother who then reported the matter to the police.
