Muiti Musinamwana has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of his 16-year-old cousin. Musinamwana was convicted and sentenced by the Gweru Magistrates’ Court.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Musinamwana was a secondary school student at the time the offense was committed.
On January 11, 2024, at around 2000 hours, Musinamwana’s family retired to bed. Musinamwana slept in his bedroom, while the deceased spread his blankets in the kitchen hut, which he used as his bedroom.
Later that night, Musinamwana woke up, proceeded to the kitchen where the deceased was sleeping, and struck him with an axe, leading to his death.
A police report was filed, leading to Musinamwana’s arrest.
