A  Shurugwi man has been charged and convicted of murder by the Gweru circuit High Court. He was subsequently sentenced to 30 years.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Tendai Tonderai Marihoho,(who 26 years at the time the offense) and the now deceased,  were at Senzo Bottle Store, Jekwe Business Centre where they were drinking beer.

The now deceased confronted the accused person over an incident in which the accused person had assaulted the now deceased’s father.

This did not go down well with the accused person who withdrew an okapi knife and charged towards the now deceased.

He was restrained from attacking the now deceased by a friend.

The accused person later dragged the now deceased outside where he poured beer on him before stabbing him once on the chest leading to his death.

Tonderai fled the scene after committing the offence. A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.

Meanwhile the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe continues to encourage members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third party mediation
