Dulibadzimu Stadium, Beitbridge —  As it continues to build towards being a world class standards benchmarked football talent nurturing hub,Vhembe Stars Academy  recently acquired bus was commissioned by the Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South, Honorable Albert Nguluvhe.

The colorful event which was full of pomp and fanfare celebrated the growth of the academy, which is the first fully registered soccer training institution in the region dedicated to nurturing young talent.

The bus, funded to support the academy’s operations, will primarily transport players to their Division 2 Pool A matches. Vhembe Stars as an academy boasts a diverse squad of 126 players, including nine girls aged between 10 and under 19, all from Beitbridge district.

Speaking at the event, Minister Nguluvhe praised the team’s leadership.

“This initiative by the Vhembe Stars President, Loadwell Ziyadumah, is commendable. It will undoubtedly help develop future soccer stars and uplift the community,” he said.

The minister also emphasized the importance of the team’s name, highlighting its cultural importance.

“Vhembe Stars connects deeply with our roots. The name evokes a sense of origin and pride, which is vital in building a strong community identity,” Nguluvhe remarked.

He further urged the local community to support the academy, describing it as “a beacon of hope for Beitbridge and a catalyst for positive change among our youth.”

The minister encouraged parents to allow their children to join and participate actively in the academy’s programs.

In support of the project, Academy President Loadwell Ziyadumah called on parents to encourage their children’s involvement.

“The bus is for the community our future soccer stars, our youth, and our hope for a better tomorrow,” he stated.

Vhembe Stars Academy Chairman, Dr. Linos Samhere, underscored the broader vision of the academy.   

“We are scouting for talented players across the district, aiming to elevate the province’s status in sports. Our goal is to expose our young stars to better opportunities and uplift the image of Beitbridge through football,” he explained.

The event was attended by community members, local officials, and supporters who rallied behind the academy’s mission to nurture talent and foster unity through sport.

 The commissioning of the bus marks a new chapter for Vhembe Stars, promising a brighter future for young footballers in Matabeleland South. The academy’s mission extends beyond just football, it does actively collaborates with local schools, providing training equipment, soccer kits, and supporting initiatives aimed at fighting drug abuse among youth and promoting social inclusion.
