Police in Beitbridge have arrested a 35-year-old woman for allegedly concealing the birth of her child after dumping a day-old infant in a bushy area.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that Patience Chivesera was taken into custody on 29 August 2025 in connection with the incident, which occurred near Chapfuche Tollgate in Bubi.
According to authorities, Chivesera allegedly gave birth and later abandoned the baby in the bush. The infant was discovered and rushed to Beitbridge District Hospital, where medical staff are providing care and further management.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
