The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of 21 people who tragically lost their lives in three separate fatal road traffic accidents that occurred in Mutare, Juru, and Masvingo between 28 and 30 August 2025.

Police said the accidents took place at the 46-kilometre peg along the Mutare–Masvingo Road in Mutare, the 49-kilometre peg along the Harare–Nyamapanda Road in Juru, and the 246-kilometre peg along the Mutare–Masvingo Road in Masvingo.

Mutare Accident – 28 August 2025
Six people died in Mutare following a crash along the Mutare–Masvingo Road. The victims were identified as:

  • Godfrey Chikosi (45), male, of Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare
  • Vincent Museza (32), male, of Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare
  • Patience Musabayana (30), female, of Mafuke Village, Zimunya, Mutare
  • Melissa Chigonde (22), female, of Zindi, Honde Valley
  • Anna Mudzingwa, female, of Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare
  • Maybe Mundondo, female, of Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare

Juru Accident – 29 August 2025
Another seven people, including three children, died in Juru along the Harare–Nyamapanda Road. The victims were named as:

  • Sunday Stenlodge (23), male, of Binga Village, Domboshava
  • Fadzai Kamurai (25), female, of Parirewa Village, Domboshava
  • Lin Nyamhunga, female infant (4), of Parirewa Village, Domboshava
  • Nyasha Nyamhunga, male infant (6 months), of Parirewa Village, Domboshava
  • Matilda Dzangu (28), female, of Parirewa Village, Domboshava
  • Kersely Matangaidza, female infant (2), of Kuwadzana 5, Harare
  • Tariro Matangaidza, female juvenile (15), of Kuwadzana 5, Harare

Masvingo Accident – 30 August 2025
Eight more people perished in Masvingo in a crash along the Mutare–Masvingo Road. They were identified as:

  • Moses Nyazika (47), male, of Mutare
  • Tamari Nyakabau (39), female, of Link Road, Mutare
  • Juliet Mabika (33), female, of Nyanyadzi
  • Happymore Mhuka (37), male, of Chikanga, Mutare
  • Everson Chazvino (24), male, of ZIMTA, Mutare
  • Tafadzwa Jacopo (27), female, of ZIMTA, Mutare
  • Maybe Mazuwa (44), female, of Pangholin, Masvingo
  • Clever Murwei (46), male, of Chikanga, Mutare

ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi extended the police’s deepest condolences to the bereaved families, urging motorists to exercise caution on the country’s roads.

“We appeal to drivers to seriously consider road safety while moving on the country’s roads,” Commissioner Nyathi said.
