A man from Mutare under Chief Zimunya will rue the day he decided to bed his sister’s daughter after being slapped with a 24 months effective prison term on incest charges.
The 30 year old man was initially entenced to 36 months imprisonment, but 12 months were suspended by the Mutare Magistrates’ Court for having sexual relations with his underage niece (14). He will serve an effective 24 months in prison.
Circumstances to in the case are that the offender proposed love to his sister’s daughter and she agreed. On an unknown date in April 2025 while they were alone at home, they engaged in consensual sexual relations several times in the kitchen.
Sometime in May 2025, the victim’s mother noticed that she was pregnant but the victim denied being pregnant. On the 29th of May 2025, the offender went to the victim’s mother and confessed that he was in love with the victim and they had had consensual sexual relations several times, indicating that he intended to marry the victim.
A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person.
