H.E. Nadeska Cuthbert, the Ambassador of Nicaragua to Zimbabwe, recently toured the Geo Pomona Waste Management Facility, lauding its innovative approach and advanced technology for sustainable waste management.
Her visit follows similar praises from high-profile figures, including President Mnangagwa and the EU Ambassador, highlighting the facility’s role as a model for waste management practices being adopted globally.
During the tour, Ambassador Cuthbert expressed her admiration for the facility’s cleanliness and innovative methods.
“I am very impressed. It’s innovative work that is done here, and it’s so clean. There have been challenges along the way, but I can see the potential,” she stated.
Ambassador Cuthbert underscored the importance of environmental protection, particularly in the context of water conservation.
“I loved hearing everything that was explained during the tour, especially the protection that is happening towards Mother Nature, which is so important. Water processing is crucial because water is essential, and in the future, it will not be easily found if we do not learn to protect it today,” she emphasised.
The Ambassador noted that the adoption of eco-friendly practices is critical in today’s global landscape.
“Geo Pomona is on the right path in ensuring the preservation of the environment. This project is key because you cannot protect the climate without initiatives like this. We all generate garbage every single day, and it’s a problem that we have been facing for a while,” she added.
She commended Geo Pomona for its holistic approach to waste management, which includes planting trees and implementing comprehensive strategies to mitigate environmental impact.
“If you look at it here, they are doing everything. This is a collective effort towards a sustainable future,” she concluded, reinforcing the facility’s vital role in addressing the climate crisis and promoting environmental stewardship.
