The post-election disturbances in Mozambican have intensified leading to the temporary closure of the country’s Lebombo border with South Africa.
According Official South African Government News Agency, the Lebombo port of entry between Mozambique and South Africa is temporary closed due to civilian safety concerns following the massive protest and instability on the Mozambicans side.
“Due to security incidents and in the interest of public safety ,the Lebombo port of entry has been temporary closed until further notice ,the commissioner of Border Management Authority [BMA],Dr Michael Masiapato has received reports of vehicles being torched ” SAgovnews stated.
Violence has spread leading to Ressano Garcia border between South Africa and Mozambique to be set on fire after an immigration officer has allegedly shot at civilians.
The electoral results in the Southern African country which the opposition are claiming were rigged in favour of FRELIMO, has led to pockets of protests triggering.

Following these uprisings in Mozambique, Social media activist Cidia Chissungo took social media to show footage of health professionals peacefully marching in Maputo demonstrating against the killing of civilians. Additionally health professionals are the only class who were not attacked by the law enforcers which some political analyst labeled it as and decisive moment in the history of the country
“Africa is facing a serious challenge of dictatorship that murder its citizens .here, the doctors and medical personnel in Maputo, Mozambique are demonstrating today shouting, stop killing our people,“ Cidia Chissungo stated on X.
