In the history of the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer league era which began in 1993, no debutant has ever lifted the league title in their first season but Mwos and Scotland seem to be crafting a new script judging by their impressive start to the campaign.
After 12 matches, Mwos FC, affectionately known as Punters are yet to lose a match, sitting on top of the PSL table with 26 points, ahead of rivals Scottland with 23 points, having secured , six wins, five draws and one defeat.
The Punters have been displaying sleek, marvel to watch kind of football under the guidance of Lloyd Mutasa, defying odds to stay unbeaten and outplaying fellow PSL teams.
If the debutants continue with their impressive form they just might defy odds and make history, as they seem confident in rewriting history.
Debutants in 2001 Shabane Mine , FC Platinum in 2011 and 2014 ZPC Kariba came close to winning the title in their first season but ultimately failed.
On the other hand, as the debutants try to make history, PSL traditional giants Dynamos FC, Highlanders and Caps United are being humiliated and struggling to find their winning rhythm.
Dynamos FC is sitting on the 16th position with 9 points, having secured one win, six draws and five defeats, which is terrible and unexpected for one of the most successful and followed club in the country.
Fellow seasoned campaigners and the second most successful team, Highlanders FC, sits on the fifth position with 18 points, having secured 4 wins, 6draws and 2 defeats which is decent , but not impressive for a giant club that last won the league title almost 20 years ago.
