Two Chipinge based officials of the law, Timothy Katsande, a 34-year-old public prosecutor, and Benjamin Basikiti, a 35-year-old legal practitioner, have been arrested and arraigned before the court facing obstruction of justice charges in Zimbabwe.

The duo were granted USD100 bail and will be back in court on the 25th of April 2025 for trial.

 According to reports, the duo is accused of manipulating a statement of agreed facts in a rape case scheduled for trial on January 15, 2025. Katsande was prosecuting the case, while Basikiti represented the accused. Their alleged actions involved altering and misrepresenting the statement to secure a more lenient charge

The first accused person was prosecuting whilst the second accused person represented the accused person in the rape matter. They allegedly altered and misrepresented the statement of agreed facts to reduce the charge to “having sexual intercourse with a child”.
