The repatriation of the remains of Zimbabweans who perished in the October 12 road accident outside Makhado (formerly Louis Trichardt) will be completed in the shortest possible time, Zimbabwe’s Acting Ambassador to South Africa, Shepherd Gwenzi, has said.
He confirmed that the Government of Zimbabwe will cover all repatriation and burial expenses, as well as the medical bills for those who were injured in the tragic accident.
Gwenzi made the remarks while addressing relatives of the deceased ahead of the physical identification process at Siloam Hospital, located east of the accident scene.
“As already announced, the Government of Zimbabwe will foot all the bills for repatriation and burial. We will also pay for medical expenses for all those injured,” he said.
He expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended appreciation to the Government of South Africa for the support rendered to the victims.
“This accident weighs heavily on us, and we want to thank the Government of South Africa for their assistance to all the victims of the accident,” he added.
