The Zimbabwean Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of six suspects linked to a series of robbery cases and unlawful entry into premises in and around Harare.
The suspects include Richmore Munhundiyani (42), Ropafadzo Bhero (24), Maxwell Tinarwo (60), James Mucheri (43), Francis Alfandika (46), and Fungai Sithole (42), and Alias Bhudha.
The arrests were made following a tip-off received by detectives from the CID Homicide unit in Harare, indicating that Munhundiyani had sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg.
Acting on this information, detectives apprehended him at Forward Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza.
Investigations revealed that Munhundiyani was shot by his accomplices during a robbery at a residence near Dema Tollgate in Seke. His subsequent confession led to the arrest of the other suspects.
During the operation, police recovered a 0.38 mm Smith and Wesson Revolver with a magazine containing six live rounds, along with stolen items including two plasma television sets, solar panels, gas stoves, a car battery, and a car radio.
The suspects are believed to be involved in four robbery cases and one case of unlawful entry into premises.
The first robbery occured on 12 January 2025, at a house in Mangwende Village, Seke, resulted in the theft of a king-size bed, solar panels, four cellphones, curtains, and other household items.
Another incident occured on 21 January 2025, at a homestead in Chanakira Village Seke, saw the theft of two cellphones and USD 2,030.00 in cash.
Additionally, the suspects are connected to a case of unlawful entry that occurred on 12 September 2024, at a residence in Glenview 3, Harare, where a 32-inch television set, blankets, and other household goods were stolen.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has commended the public for their valuable information that contributed to the successful arrests of these suspects, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in crime prevention efforts.
