The 2024 CAF African Goalkeeper award continues to spotlight the brilliance of goalkeepers and further enriching the African talent. This year‘s award features 10 outstanding goalkeeper nominees.
The CAF goalkeeper award winner will be determined by votes from diverse panel consisting of CAF technical committee, media professionals, head coaches and captains of member of association.
The 2024 nominees include ,Oussama Benbot[Algeria],Andre Onana [Cameron],Yahia Fofana [Cote divoire],Lionel Mpasi [DR Congo],Mostafa Shobeir [Egypt],Djigui Diarra [Mali],Munir El Kajoui [Morocco],Stanley Nwabali [Nigeria ],Ronwen Williams [South Africa],Amanallah Memmiche [Tunisia ].
Last month, South Africa’s number one goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was named the 9th best goalkeeper for 2024 on this year‘s ballon d’or ceremony . Williams being named amongst the world top 10 goalies of the year, and also wining the AFCON golden glove, it gives him an upper hand to scoop the CAF goalkeeper award.
Bafana Bafana skipper made continental history as the first ever footballer playing in Africa to be nominated for the Yashin trophy competing against the Emilliano Martinez and Unai Simon [Spain].
Last year ‘s 2023 CAF goalkeeper award was won by the Moroccan goalie Yassine Bounou and on December 16 we will be witnessing the new winner for 2024.
