In a vibrant celebration of solidarity, President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa hosted a banquet in honor of His Excellency D. F. Chapo, President of Mozambique, showcasing the enduring relationship and collaborative spirit between the two neighboring nations. The event took place in Bulawayo yesterday.

During the banquet, President Mnangagwa emphasized the progress made in bilateral economic collaboration, highlighting increased investment and trade exchanges across various sectors, including agriculture, energy, transport, tourism, manufacturing, and mining.

He noted that the ongoing interactions have generated positive outcomes, paving the way for future growth.

“We stand tall on the rich history shared between our nations,” said Mnangagwa.

“The recent high-level visits and initiatives in areas like environmental conservation and climate change mitigation reflect our commitment to working together,” he added.

The presence of a high-level business delegation from Mozambique at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Business Roundtable was particularly welcomed. This engagement illustrates a joint effort to boost trade volumes and business-to-business interactions, crucial for economic development.

Addressing the importance of infrastructure, Mnangagwa specifically mentioned the upcoming Ponta Techo-Banine Project, which he believes will significantly benefit both economies.

“Shared cross-border infrastructure is key to accelerating our industrialization and modernization efforts,” he remarked.

Furthermore, the Zimbabwean president reiterated his government’s commitment to fostering enduring relations with Mozambique under President Chapo’s leadership.

He expressed eagerness to strengthen ties between the ruling parties, ZANU-PF and FRELIMO, emphasizing their shared goals as they navigate their destinies.

As part of the African continent’s broader agenda, Mnangagwa assured Chapo that Zimbabwe will remain a reliable partner in advancing Sustainable Development Goals and contributing to regional stability and prosperity within the southern African community.

“Tonight, we reflect on our strong relationship and milestones achieved, as well as celebrate our shared aspirations for the future,” Mnangagwa concluded, as the event fostered an atmosphere of optimism for the continued partnership between Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
