South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns have secured a CAF Champions league semi final spot after holding Tunisia ‘s Esperance 0-0 in their second leg encounter in Tunis.
Following their 1-0 victory at home and an away draw, the Brazilians therefore took the quarter final tie 1-0 on aggregate and avenged last season’s defeat in the semi-finals of the same competition.
In another notable result, record 12 time champions Al Ahly secured a semi-final spot after a 1-0 victory over Al Hilal SC. The red devils win booked their Semi-final spot through a 2-0 aggregate over the Sudanese.
The most interesting part in these two results is Warriors left back Devine Lunga ‘s Sundowns will face off with reigning African kings Al Ahly in the Semi-finals.
Meanwhile Pyramids FC have also progressed after 4-3 victory on aggregate against FAR Rabat, they will face either Orlando Pirates or MC Alger who play in a second leg encounter scheduled to take place today in Johannesburg. The Buccaneers lead the tie 1-0 following their victory in Algeria.
