Tongwe high boys has scooped the Nash Beitbridge district Under 20 boys tournament held at Chitulipasi Secondary School.
The defending champions of the tournament famously known as Tshisima tsha vhuṱali displayed a positive fighting spirit as they claimed the victory ezani high school boys on penalties in the final, to retain their crown.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Former coach Phathutshedzo Munyai who is now the head of referees, was pleased that the district tournament has been a successful event.
“ First of all I would like to thank you guys the Ziyah media for beautiful coverage and also the schools that participated. The tounament has been successful, evidenced by so called small teams like Swereki and Fountain college making it to the semi-finals, ” Munyai said.
Munyai highlighted that Tongwe has been winning the district competition for several years thus stamping their authority as district heavy weights.
The champions of Beitbridge will be preparing for the provincial challenge against the champions of other districts of Matabeleland South at Manama.
Meanwhile, the undefeated Beitbridge district reigning champions along side Swereki and the runners up Zezani have qualified to join the Ziyah Media football tournament set for November.
These teams will play against the defending champions Chibi high school, Vhembe and St Mary’s High school.
The Nash Beitbridge district Under 20 boys tournament has proven to be exciting tournament to the fans with so called small teams defeating giants like Vhembe, Malungudzi and St Mary’s.
