CENTRAL Region Soccer League Division One side Vhembe Stars Academy has appointed Paul Mugabiri as interim head coach, alongside Gilbert Chigwandaza, until the end of the season.
Vhembe Stars Academy Secretary General Foster Abekie confirmed the appointment of the two interim coaches.
“I can confirm that Paul Mugabiri will be the interim coach alongside Gilbert Chigwandaza,” Abekie said.
Mugabiri emerged as the front-runner for the role following the departure of head coach Blessing Madombi on July 24.
Vhembe Stars Academy have one goal only, to survive relegation in the Central Region Soccer League Division One, following a poor first half of the season overseen by coaches Madombi and Philimon Mutyakureva.
Mugabiri’s first game in charge will be against Tongogara at Dulibadzimu Stadium on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Speaking on the interim appointment, Abekie said the team must do everything necessary to survive and win league games in order to finish as one of the better teams.
Vhembe Stars Academy sits in position 16 with 13 points after 17 matches with 2 wins, 7 draws and 8 defeats.
