The battle for continental supremacy is underway as 12 nations battle for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
In a notable fixture on today, the Copper Queens of Zambia face Senegal at 1800hours on their group A match day 2.
Following their entertaining 2-2 draw against hosts Morocco, the Copper Queens look to secure maximum points, while Senegal looks to maintain its winning rhythm after laying down a marker in their opening match against DR Congo with a commanding 4-0 win.
Morocco and DR Congo will face each other later today in the evening at 2100hours, as both teams look to keep their knockout stages hopes alive by securing maximum points following their poor start.
Group B is set to witness a North African derby as Algeria and Tunisia will lock horns tomorrow, Thursday, at 1800 before fellow group mates Botswana and Nigeria ‘s battle at 2100hours.
Nigeria, true to their reputation, swept past Tunisia 3-0 to lead group B, while Algeria got the job done against Botswana 1-0 to move second.
Following their 2-0 victory against Ghana in the first round, defending champions South Africa prepares to battle against Tanzania, while Mali, which edged Tanzania by the narrowest of margins 1-0, will face Ghana in their second match in Group C.
