Harare– President Mnangagwa has endorsed a plan that is aimed at resolving the leadership crisis that has dogged the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) with the emergency of factions all claiming to be the legitimate representatives of the Association.

In a joint statement, Honourable Ministers M. Mavhunga and J.G. Moyo, alongside Secretary for Veterans, Ex-Political Prisoners, Detainees, and Restricttees, Cde. D.K. Mahiya, called for democratic elections to resolve the leadership crisis within the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWA).

“The move aims to address the confusion caused by multiple leadership structures claiming legitimacy under the same name (PVO Number 1/90). The directive, made in consultation with Acting President Hon. K.C.D. Mohadi and endorsed by President Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, seeks to unify the organization through inclusive elections at District, Province, and National levels, indicated the joint statement.”

The elections will involve all structures led by Comrades Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, Moffat Marashwa, and Andrease Mathibela, culminating in a single leadership. Dates for the elections will be announced soon, superseding all other arrangements made by separate ZNLWVA groupings.

The statement also emphasised the need for all members to refrain from name-dropping, promoting unity and a collective move forward. This development marks a significant step towards resolving the leadership impasse and making sure the ZNLWA’s collective voice.
