Zimbabwe’s men national team is set face Cameroon tomorrow for their final group J AFCON 2025 qualifiers as both teams have already secured their qualification spot.
Following their 0-0 draw in their last encounter in Uganda, the Warriors and Indomitable lions will again battle in Cameroon but this time both teams have no qualification pressure as they have booked their AFCON 2025 places.
The indomitable lions are leading group J with 11 points after drawing 0-0 against Namibia, meanwhile the Warriors strengthened their grip on second place on the table after a 1-1 draw against Kenya which left them with 9 points.
Meanwhile, some Warriors fans have already started calling for Coach Michael Nees to rest Washington Arubi and give the England born Brentford’s goalie Marley Tavaziva a debut against Cameroon.
“We wish the coach can give the young Tavaziva a debut Yes Cameroon has big names but we think it’s the right time to give him such a start in such a big match, that could boost his confidence, Yeah of course we all know the coach may want to finish his group stages undefeated but we hope he gives the young man a debut to remember maybe he can deliver,” a fan who preffered anonymity said.
Cameroon will be backed up by the home crowd and will be hoping to deliver a top class performance and end their group stage qualifiers in style. Meanwhile Zimbabwe will also be hoping to make headlines by finishing undefeated in group stages and also secure better results against one of the highest African ranked teams with a rich footballing history.
The Warriors will be playing Cameroon without Marshall Munetsi who has been released and Gerald Takwara who picked an injury during the previous match.
