THE ZANU PF Commissariat Department has nullified the recent co-option of Cde. Dr. Paul T. Tungwarara into the party’s Central Committee, citing violations of established procedures.

In a letter addressed to Manicaland Provincial Chairman Cde Tapiwa Mukodza, National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha confirmed that the Manicaland Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) improperly convened on 7 December 2025 and co-opted Tungwarara to fill the vacancy left by Cde. Dorothy Mabika.

According to the Commissariat, the move contravened a Legal Affairs Department Circular dated 30 June 2025, which outlines mandatory procedures for filling Central Committee vacancies.

Among the key requirements is that any replacement must come from the same administrative district as the outgoing member.

The department stressed that the rightful candidate must be selected from Chipinge Administrative District, in line with the party’s principle of equitable representation across all districts.

Cde. Machacha further instructed the province to guard against any form of vote buying or undue influence during the resolution of the matter. He warned that any aspiring candidate offering money, goods, or services while the issue is pending would face automatic disqualification.

“In view of the above, Manicaland Province is advised to conduct another co-option process following the correct guidelines,” reads part of the directive.

The letter was copied to senior party officials including Secretary General Cde. J.F.N. Mudenda, Treasury General Cde. P.A. Chinamasa and Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde. Ziyambi Ziyambi.
