Harare — Pastor Dumisani Mawoyo, widely known as Pastor Dumi of Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) and Forward In Ministries in the United States, is embroiled in a legal dispute over an unpaid loan.

The preacher has been summoned to court by a friend, Benson Maeka, over an outstanding debt of US$80,000.

According to reports, Mawoyo borrowed the money from Maeka on January 6, 2024. The two parties signed a written agreement detailing the loan terms, which stipulated that Mawoyo would repay the amount by a specified date. Notably, no interest was attached to the loan.

However, Mawoyo reportedly failed to honor the repayment agreement. Maeka alleges that despite multiple reminders and demand notices, including a final reminder sent on November 26, 2024, Mawoyo avoided repayment and allegedly started avoiding contact altogether.

Frustrated by the ongoing delay, Maeka decided to pursue legal action, leading to Mawoyo’s appearance in court.

The case has stirred social media discussions, with some users criticizing NewsHawks for exposing the preacher’s private financial matters. Others have brought up past controversies, claiming Mawoyo has faced issues in the United States, including allegations of tax fraud, which some say paint a complicated picture of his personal history.

As the court process unfolds, many are watching closely, debating the implications of the case for the preacher’s reputation and influence within Zimbabwe’s religious community. Mawoyo has yet to comment publicly on the allegations.
