As efforts to nip the scourge of having sexual intercourse with minors in the bud continue, a 34 year old man from Village Dhibha, Chief Samambwa, Zhombe has been slipped with a four year jail term by Kwekwe Magistrates Court for having sexual intercourse with a minor.
The convicted man however will spend an effective three years after one year was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
According to the NPA, the offender had sexual intercourse on multiple occasions with a 14 year old female juvenile who is his wife’s cousin between May 8 and 13, 2025. The victim had dropped out of school so that she can take care of the offender’s wife who was ill.
The offender and the victim ended up living as husband and wife. The offence came to light when the offender bragged about the situation in the village leading to police investigations and the arrest of the offender.
