Zimbabwe’s Warriors managed to a secure a point against Nigeria ‘s Super Eagles in their match day 6 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match played yesterday

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen found the back of the net in the 74th minute, giving the Super Eagles hope for a victory.However, Tawanda Chirewa, the Wolves player currently on-loan at Huddersfield stunned the Nigerian crowd with an equalizer in the 90th minute.

The Warriors went Into this match with hopes of showing resilience, to battle for their national pride and survival following their winless run while the Super Eagles came in, knowing anything short of a win will further jeopardise their qualification hopes.

Zimbabwe is hanging at the bottom of Group C with 4 points behind Lesotho on 6 points, Nigeria 7 points, Benin and Rwanda 8 points each and South Africa on top of the group with 13 points.

The Warriors have been able to score goals in back to back matches after conceding first to salvage a point, which sends a clear message that, they are capable of playing on the big stage however they need to deal with their evident slow start that has them pinned against the wall.

Zimbabwe will need to tighten up and try to find the back of the net as early as possible when they play Rwanda and South Africa in their next FIFA World Cup qualifiers encounter where they will be playing for pride and preparing for the AFCON tournament set for Morocco in December.
