ZIMBORDERS, together with its affiliate contractors, last Tuesday donated early Christmas groceries and festive gifts to Khaya Letemba Orphanage in Dulibadzimu near Mashakada Business Centre.
The move aligns with the country’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) focus on social security and community welfare,
Khaya Letemba is home to eight orphans, but a total of 20 children benefited from the donation on the day, including less-privileged children from the surrounding community who have lost one or both parents.
The orphanage is run by Ambassadors Church under the leadership of Bishop Benon Ncube.
The initiative is not a once-off, as Zimborders has been supporting the orphanage consistently for the past two years.

Speaking at the event, Nqobile Ncube, Zimborders Consortium General Manager, said the outreach reflects the company’s growing responsibility under the NDS2 framework.
“As Zimborders, we are grateful for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme we carried out today. We have brought early Christmas cheer for the little ones,” said Ncube.
“We fully understand the needs and challenges that come with caring for these children, and even in our small way, we are happy to oblige just to bring smiles to them,” He said.
He said the orphanage donation complements other community interventions already being implemented by Zimborders.
“This initiative builds on other social and infrastructure development projects we are implementing, including water reservoir development and support for community safety infrastructure such as the fire station,” he said.

Ncube stressed that with the country now transitioning into NDS2, greater responsibility is being placed on the private sector to support vulnerable communities.
“We are cognisant that as NDS2 places stronger emphasis on social security and human development, the responsibility on corporates like us becomes even greater,” he said.
“We must ensure that no child fails to attend school because of lack of resources and that no household goes to bed without food. As Zimborders, we remain committed to supporting Government initiatives aimed at uplifting communities,” he said.
In appreciation of the donation, Bishop Benon Ncube thanked Zimborders for standing with the orphanage and the children.

“We are deeply grateful for this continued support from Zimborders,” said Bishop Ncube.
“For children who have lost parents and come from difficult backgrounds, this kind of love restores hope and dignity. It assures them that they are not forgotten.”
He also commended the consistency of the support.
“This is not the first time Zimborders has visited this home. Their commitment over the past two years has made a real difference in the lives of these children,” he said.
The visit ended in celebration as the children received their Christmas presents, marking another milestone in a growing partnership between the corporate sector, the church and the community now firmly aligned with the social protection goals of NDS2.
