The Zimbabwe Republic Police has announced a recruitment drive for young Zimbabweans willing and fit to join the police force through its revamped training programme.The ZRP dumped the previous six months training of recruits for a two year Diploma in Police Studies and pioneers of the new training programme graduated last year.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is recruiting suitably qualified candidates who are Zimbabwean citizens, physically fit to join the Organisation as General Duty Constables and train for a Diploma in Police Studies for a period of two [02] years at Mkushi Police Training Academy, an affiliate of the University of Zimbabwe,” said the ZRP in a statement.
According to the communication, the call for applications is open to young people between the ages of 18-22, with a minimum of five Ordinary level passes, which include Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject attained in not more than two (2) sittings
In addition to the age and educational qualifications the ZRP also has eight and height requirements for enrolment into the force’s programme including that they must be physically and medically fit,have a minimum height of 1,68m and weigh not less than 59 kgs for males, 1,62m and weigh in proportion to height for female candidates and be prepared to complete a 5 Km road run in 20 minutes for males and 25 minutes for females.
“Applicants to submit their hand written application letters with contact numbers and life history of between 450 to 500 words, copy of identity document and copies of educational qualifications in person to the Officer-in-Charge of the nearest Police Station where they stay on or before Monday, 08 July 2024.”
A warning was also sent to the public to be on the lookout for criminals who might want to take advantage of the programme to pose as recruiting agencies especially on social media
“Members of the public are warned against fake advertisements from social media platforms as well as individuals purporting to be members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police who may dupe them of their hard earned cash under the pretext that they will be recruited into the Police Service.
