The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for Godfrey Karembera (47), popularly known as Madzibaba Eshanduko, and Kudzai Weston Saruwaka, who are accused of unlawfully distributing fliers in Machipisa, Glen View and Budiriro.
The fliers reportedly may have caused public alarm and unrest, prompting the ZRP to respond and triggering a high-speed police pursuit when the duo attempted to evade arrest.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the police appealed to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the two men.
“The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Godfrey Karembera (47) aka Madzibaba Eshanduko and Kudzai Weston Saruwaka for contravening Section 187 as read with Section 36 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. The duo ran away from police officers during a high-speed chase while distributing fliers in Machipisa, Glen View and Budiriro suburbs recently,” read the statement.
According to the cited law, Section 187 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act deals with attempts to commit a crime, while Section 36 relates to public violence.
When read together, the sections imply that the suspects are being sought for allegedly attempting to incite or engage in conduct likely to cause public disorder through the distribution of the fliers.
Police have urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the two suspects to report to the nearest police station.
The ZRP said investigations are ongoing.
