Relatives of the 43 people who perished in the DNC coach

RELATIVES of the 43 people who perished in the DNC coach that rolled off a cliff in the mountainous stretch of the N1 outside Makhado (formerly Louis Tritchadt) have gathered at Siloam Hospital where remains of their loved ones are kept.

Some of th relatives have come from different places in South Africa including Port Elizabeth where the ill-fated bus started its last journey.

Others are from Zimbabwe and Malawi who are accompanied by Government officials from both countries who include embassy staff.

The close to 100 relatives are waiting to be addressed by Limpopo Province premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

A sombre mood looms above the hall where SA officials have been giving relatives refreshments and snacks as they await the painful physical identification process.

The relatives who were kept at the Beitbridge Social Services Reception Centre left at 3am Monday aboard a bus supplied by the contracted undertaker.

Most of the relatives complained about delays at the border they said were caused by an official from the Vehicle Inspection Department who insisted on issues previously discussed.

Thirty-three Zimbabweans have through photographs and now await the painful physical identification….More To Follow
