The Zimbabwean Republic Police has released names of five of the seven victims who lost their lives in fatal road traffic accident at 330km peg along Harare-Bulawayo road on the 08th December 2024, the victims were identified by their next of kin.
Seven people died on the spot while 22 others were injured when an Inter Africa bus with 43 passengers on board rammed onto the back of a stationary Freightliner truck with no passengers on board. Of the 22 victims who were injured, six were treated and discharged and 16 others are admitted at Gweru Provincial Hospital.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police released the names as follows; Mutanga Brian a male adult of Bocha Marange, Manyise Madubeko (45) a male adult of 4th Street Bulawayo, Ncube Sinqobile (43) a female adult of Xanti village From Esigodini, Muchemwa Matienga (62) a male adult of Lasoer Road Harrisvale Bulawayo and Mafukidze Edmen Collin (39) a male of Overspill Epworth.
Meanwhile, in another road traffic accident which occurred on the 08th ofDecember 2024 at around 0130 hours at the 72 kilometre peg along Harare-Wedza Road, the driver of a Nissan pick-up vehicle was killed while the passenger was injured when the vehicle veered off the road before hitting a stationary Scania truck with three passengers on board.
The body of the victim was taken to Marondera Provincial Hospital for post mortem while the injured person is admitted at the same hospital.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores motorists to exercise caution and be alert on the roads, especially when driving early in the morning or during the night.
“Above all, motorists should avoid speeding and always follow all road rules and regulations to safeguard human lives,” said Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi.
