The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reiteratied that unregistered kombis will not be allowed to operate on the country’s roads.

The Police emphasized that only registered kombis with all necessary documents will be permitted to operate as public service vehicles.

“The police reiterate that only duly registered kombis with all the relevant and verifiable documents will be allowed to carry passengers from one point to another.”

In it’s communication to the public and operators , the Police  said it will be unflinching in it’s prohibition of  unregistered kombis and pirate taxis from operating.

“In this regard no unregistered kombis or pirate taxis will be allowed to conduct business as public service vehicles.”

 The police urged kombi owners to ensure their vehicles and drivers comply with all road rules and regulations.

” Passengers are advised to avoid boarding dilapidated or unregistered kombis, particularly those with no registration plates or windows covered with cardboard.” 

The Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba, has directed commanders to ensure that registered and compliant kombis should not unnecessarily be  inconvenienced at police checkpoints.

The ZRP is taking decisive action against unregistered kombis operating on routes such as Chitungwiza-Harare CBD, particularly those dropping passengers before the Seke Bridge.
