A shameless Beitbridge man has been jailed for 15 years for raping his relative, a cousin.
Ronald Singo, 30, even failed to respect their difference in age when he forced himself on the woman, a neighbour eight years his senior.
On August 12 this year at their Chambombell village under Chief Matibe, Singo violently broke into the room where his cousin slept alone.
She suspected he was up to no good when she heard his footsteps, then saw him walk past her window that dawn at about 5am.
She ran to the door and tried to use a rack, and her body weight block the intruder who overpowered her and broke in.
Immediately, he pushed her over, and she fell on her blankets yet to be made because it was too early.
For Singo, the site was right, but for his cousin, her home suddenly became a horror scene.
Even having leaned against the door, using her might, everything had turned out wrong and there she was beaten, weak as he undressed her before removing his own apparel, a black and white boxer shorts beneath.
He raped her once, dressed up and left into the morning.
Singo’s cousin, his victim, left home, bitter and utterly disgusted and broken at lost dignity and pain of physical theft.
She poured her heart out to the village head, who advised her to approach the police resulting in Singo’s arrest.
Magistrate Charity Maphosa suspended five years on condition of good behaviour for five years, during which Singo should not be convicted for a similar offence.
He will be inside for 10 years.
Wilbrought Muleya prosecuted.
