A Beitbridge man, Nyasha Ndlovu (30) has been convicted of fraud of $550 after collecting the money from Brian Mashonganyika under the pretext of fabricating aluminium doors and a window, a job he never carried out.

The court heard that on 3 January 2026, Mashonganyika and Ndlovu entered into an agreement for the fabrication of two aluminium doors and one window at an initial cost of US$400.

According to the State, a week later Ndlovu demanded an additional US$150, claiming the initial amount was insufficient to complete the work.

Mashonganyika complied, bringing the total paid to US$550.

However, when Mashonganyika returned on 22 January 2026 to collect the finished products at house number 6836, where Ndlovu has been working from discovered that no work had been done.

Mashonganyika told the court that Ndlovu only refunded him US$100, citing failure to raise the remaining balance.

Dissatisfied, Mashonganyika reported the matter to the police, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.

Ndlovu pleaded guilty and accepted the charge.

The case was prosecuted by Reason Mutamba, while Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni presided and sentenced Ndlovu to 30 days of community service.
