BEITBRIDGE Reception Centre Superintendent Nobuhle Ncube, has alongside her frontline staff, received accolades from Minister of Women’s Affairs Monica Mutsvangwa.
Mutswangwa, accompanying UNFPA Country Representative, Miranda Tabifor (on behalf of participating UN Agencies), visited Beitbridge on Monday and described Ncube and her team service as something to write home about.
“They say dynamites come in small packages and this is exactly what they mean, you are doing a wonderful job and we are proud to have you,” Mutsvangwa said in reference to Ncube’s petit stature.
“We appreciate so much the work she is doing together with her team. Tomorrow I will be in cabinet and I will report directly to President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the good work you are doing,” she said.
Nucbe has in the past got high-level ministerial and international accolades for managing the massive repatriation of Zimbabwean citizens from South Africa.
She is in charge of the centre that has to date close to 40 000 Zimbabwean fleeing South Africa where some have worked for years.
The acknowledgment showed her team’s round-the-clock efforts to process thousands of returnees safely and humanely despite immense pressure on facility resources.
Several partners and agencies have stepped in to assist Government in the decent repatriation of Zimbabweans ejected from SA.
Ncube is not new to the accolades and last week she was recipient to similar ministerial praise from Local Government and Public works Minister Daniel Garwe who visited the same centre.
Garwe had also accompanied United Nations (UN) Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Rosemary Kalapurakal who praised the centre’s staff for handling returning citizens with dignity.
The Beitbridge Reception Centre has been processing an average of 1,000 returnees daily.
Since May 2026, the facility has coordinated the safe reception, screening, and onward transportation of tens of thousands of Zimbabweans returning home.
