Chapungu Football Club has written to FC Mamabo demanding they return a football kit donated to the latter by its late head coach, Tawanda Marimo.

In a letter dated November 2025, Chapungu FC chairman and Deputy Base Commander at Josiah Tungamirai Air Base, Group Captain Mahlangu, said the kit must be returned since it was given to FC Mamabo without the approval of Chapungu FC and the Air Force of Zimbabwe.

“Reference to our telephone conversation regarding the issue of kit donated to your club by our late Head Coach Tawanda Marimo, a request is being made to your esteemed office for the kit to be returned back to Chapungu FC since it was donated to your club without Chapungu FC and Air of Zimbabwe approval,” Mahlangu said.

The correspondence, which carries an official Air Force of Zimbabwe stamp dated November 4, underscores the military affiliated club’s stance that the equipment remains property of Chapungu.

Marimo, who died earlier this year, was a highly respected figure within Zimbabwean football circles, known for his commitment to grassroots development.

His passing left a void both at Chapungu and in the wider football fraternity

Mahlangu said the club would appreciate FC Mamabo’s cooperation in ensuring the kit is returned to the Josiah Tungamirai Air Force Base.

The letter, was addressed to FC Mamabo executives in Gweru.
