Popular musician Obert Chari has called upon Zimbabweans to uphold family unity and work together to ameliorate Gender Based Violence (GBV).

Speaking in an interview, Chari said most of the challenges children are facing today are because of family disunity and GBV related issues which is at the heart of family disintegration.

”Families should desist from GBV which will affect the plight of children, separation of couples result in mental, physical, sexual, psychological and economic impact to the family fabric,” he said.

”Sometimes children are living in harsh conditions, walking barefooted to school for long distances with no school fees paid but when parents are together some of those situations can be avoided,” Chari added.

The ”Mebo” hit maker who was raised in a rural setup and who is proud of his culture and where he come from touches more on social issues.

Talking of his emotional song titled Hamuna Moyo he said the song is rich with content and it’s still not yet reach his expectations in terms of trending.

Chari said his rich lyrical content is not from him but God is doing everything on his behalf and he always appreciate Zion Christian Church (ZCC), his church for “it’s contribution towards his musical journey.”

The Hakireni Stars front man also said participating in choirs played an important role for him to be a better musician.”

Chari rose to fame after releasing Mebo in 2017, a song which was to become an anthem propelling him to the limelight of Zimbabwean music
