SADC Chairman and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and other neighbouring leaders have sent their congratulatory messages to SWAPO‘s Nandi –Ndaitwah following her announcement as the winner of Namibia’s November 27 presidential vote.

In a statement, President Mnangangwa congratulated Namibia’s President elect, highlighting he hopes for excellent relations between the two countries.

“On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Zimbabwe and on my own behalf, I wish to extend to you my most sincere congratulations on your historic election as the president of the republic of Namibia, your victory is a reflection of the trust and confidence that the people of Namibia have in your leadership to safeguard the liberation heritage and bring the socio economic transformation in Namibia,” said President Mnangagwa’s.

The UN Women Africa also took social media to congratulate the President elect Nandi –Ndaitwah after a historic election victory.

“Congratulations to Namibia for electing the country‘s first female president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah .her historic election is a significant milestone in the struggle for gender equality in the highest position of power”UN Women Africa stated on social media.

Not to be left out, the ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula also took to his social media to appreciate and congratulate the first female president elect of Namibia.

“Congratulation to H.E Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on her historic election as Namibia’s first female president –elect .Her leadership represents a significant milestone for Namibia and a source of inspiration across Africa. As a veteran of SWAPO and respected stateswoman, she brings decades of experience to this role, marking a transformative moment for gender equality and governance in the country, the ANC wishes the best as she leads Namibia into a promising future,” secretary general Mbalula stated.

Most importantly president elect Ndaitwah joins the rank of few females who have been heads of state or current female heads of state, something which remain a rare feat.
